Good afternoon!
So, on Friday my female boss (I have 2 bosses they're married and are running the restaurant together) told me I have to cut my nails. First of all, I have really good genes when it comes to my nails they are hard as rocks and grow quickly and nicely. I keep them extremely clean and filed if they need it but my nails always grow like how a french manicure grows. I always get compliments on how nice they are. So anyway, I actually freaked out on her a little bit. I don't like to be told what to do to begin with but when it comes to something that has to do with my personal hygiene - that really grinds my gears! I refuse to cut my nice nails unless I want to especially for some fast food job. I know that in the paper work when I first started it said you can't have painted nails or fake nails and I've complied with those rules I've painted my nails I think once in the past 3 years and it was for a wedding on a day I wasn't working and I took it off before work.
Guess what happened Saturday morning? I was cleaning the crap out of my house and one of my nails broke half way across right at the bottom. That hardly ever happens because my nails are so good but for some reason my hard a nails nail broke. I had to cut them all because I don't want one short nail that's just gross in my opinion. So I'm gonna go to work today and I really hope the female boss doesn't notice my nails because she's going to think I cut them because she told me to when that is not the case at all.
I've seen girls at my work with nail polish on and I've seen 2 girls with fake nails on. Did they get talked to? Did they have to go home to take it off? That's actually a food health and safety thing believe it or not because polish can flake off into the food and potentially make someone sick and fake nails can fall off and possibly injure someone or kill them if they choke on it or something. Real nails are not gonna do that. As far as I'm concerned my nails are nobody's business but my own.
Do you work somewhere with ridiculous rules that you can't stand? Comment! I know there must be tons of places - I applied to Starbucks one time and they make you agree in the application that you won't have an unnatural hair colour, no tattoos, piercings have to be very minimal I believe, etc. It's 2016 people!! Ugh.
